The Commissioner for Superannuation Annual Report 2008–09 has been prepared in accordance with the Requirements for Annual Reports, as approved by the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit, and satisfies the annual reporting requirements set out in the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997.

This report has been designed to clearly describe our activities and performance—with a focus on results achieved—particularly in relation to the goals outlined in the 2008–09 Portfolio Budget Statements (PBS) and Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements (PAES).

This report is divided into the sections outlined below:

Overview

This section provides a review by the Commissioner of Superannuation of the significant issues and developments that occurred in 2008–09, including an overview of our financial performance and expected position for 2009–10. This section also outlines our business, our operational and governance arrangements, our outcomes, outputs, purpose, strategy and structure. Relationships with other parties responsible for public sector superannuation are also described.
