The Commissioner for Superannuation
The Commissioner for Superannuation is a statutory office-holder under section 18(2) of the Superannuation Act 1976, having the responsibility and power of a departmental secretary for the purposes of the staffing and the financial administration of ComSuper. The Commissioner is also the Chief Executive Officer of ComSuper.
The Commissioner provides superannuation administration services to the ARIA and MSB Boards of Trustees, and is also ex-officio Chair of the DFRDB Authority. As Chief Executive Officer of ComSuper, the Commissioner also provides administrative support for the general administration of:
- the closed Defence Forces Retirement Benefits (DFRB) Scheme
- certain closed Papua New Guinea (PNG) superannuation schemes
- the general administration and operation of the Superannuation Act 1922, which provides the continuing authority for the payment of pensions under this now superseded scheme.
