Restoration of Reversionary Pension
A change in the law, which came into effect 1 January 2008, meant that widows and widowers of deceased Australian Government public service employees and Australian Defence Force members who lost their pension when they remarried can apply to have it fully restored.
Prior to 1976 (or 1977 in respect of the DFRB/DFRDB scheme), pensions paid to the spouse of a deceased member were stopped when the spouse remarried.
If you, or someone you know, lost their pension as a result of remarrying, we encourage you to find out more about applying to restore that pension by calling us on 1300 001 877.
If you have previously had your pension partially restored you should also contact us so that your benefit can be fully restored.
Please note, the application form has been designed to assist us in determining your eligibility, so please make sure you fill it all in and provide all the requested documents where available.
