The Defence Forces Retirement Benefits (DFRB) scheme

The DFRDB Authority is responsible for the general administration and operation of the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits Act 1948 (the DFRB Act).

This scheme was closed to new contributors from 30 September 1972. Existing contributors under this Act were compulsorily transferred to the DFRDB scheme, however, the DFRB Act still provides for the payment of pensions that were in force before that date and any reversionary pensions that have since become payable.
